Pontevedra
The only place to book connecting hotel rooms and suites. Here's how.
Pontevedra is a coastal province in the autonomous community of Galicia, located in northwestern Spain. It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west and is known for its stunning coastline, including the famous Rías Baixas - a series of coastal inlets that create sheltered bays and estuaries. The province's capital city, also called Pontevedra, is a charming medieval town with well-preserved historic architecture. The region is renowned for its seafood, particularly shellfish from the rías, and is one of Spain's most important fishing areas. Pontevedra is also celebrated for its white wines, especially Albariño, which pairs perfectly with the local maritime cuisine. The landscape combines rugged coastline with green hills and river valleys, while culturally it maintains strong Galician traditions, including the distinctive Galician language alongside Spanish. Major destinations include the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela (though technically in A Coruña province, it's closely connected to Pontevedra's cultural identity), coastal towns like Sanxenxo and O Grove, and the Cíes Islands, part of the Atlantic Islands National Park. The province successfully balances tourism with fishing, agriculture, and wine production.
