How To Get Around In Hawaii

Getting There

Most trans-pacific flights to Hawaii fly into Honolulu International Airport in Oahu. And although options for direct flights to the other islands are slim, connections are easily made through Honolulu airport into all other islands. Be sure to plan in advance, since connecting flights can be oversold and prices will soar on high season.

Quick tip: If you haven’t already booked a car, or if you plan on hopping around the islands, Uber and Lyft are the best ways to get around Honolulu and to and from the airport!

Island Hopping in Hawaii

Inter-island travel is affordable and easy with local airlines like Island Air and Hawaii Airlines. Major airlines will offer higher comfort while more affordable ones might offer a bumpier ride, but they’ll get you there all the same.

For those of you looking to stave off the air, there is also the ferry option departing twice daily from Maui to Molokai and traveling between Lahaina, Maui, and Kaunakakai, Molokai. The rides are no more than 90 minutes and check-in is 30 minutes prior.
