Fly to London

London is served by five main airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City. In terms of flight transit, Heathrow is the busiest and most popular option for travel into London, with Gatwick Airport a close second. So you'll want to eye these airports when booking your flight. And while both Heathrow and Gatwick are easily accessible to-and-from the city, they're about 20 miles out, so you'll want to plan ahead for when you get there.

If you're arriving through Heathrow, the easiest option is pre-book a rental car, taxi, private car or request an Uber upon arrival. For other transport options out of Heathrow, you can also ride the tube on The Piccadilly Line, or board The Heathrow Express Train, bus or coach service. If you're arriving through Gatwick, other transport options include taking the airport shuttle or boarding the monorail.

Getting Around London

The best way to get around London is to use the London Underground (metro system), known as the ‘Tube’. You can purchase tickets or a rechargeable ‘Oyster card’, which will prove a more affordable option if you plan on staying for a few days. Also, you can use this same card on buses and other forms of public transportation. And while the tube will quickly get you just about anywhere, taking the bus will offer a more scenic transport.

You could also hail one of London’s “Black Cab” taxis, which accept cash and cards, rent a car or, of course, hop on an Uber.
